Booze...and Bacon!? Why not?
There seems to be a growing trend in the American culinary and cocktail culture of finding new and different ways to implement bacon into everyday food and drink. And why not, bacon is only the best thing on the planet, so why not pair it with the second best thing...liquor. A few adventerous local bartenders have been experimenting with bacon infused vodkas and bourbons, and the results are phenomenal. It seems that by using a bacon infused spirit, you can transform that boring old Manhattan or Bloody Mary into a fancy new cocktail loaded with flavor. A few customers have been inquiring lately about how to infuse a vodka or bourbon, and as it turns out, it's a really simple process (if you can manage to NOT eat the bacon). All you need is a liter of your desired spirit, vodka and bourbon seem to work the best, and 6 strips of cooked bacon. Simply add the cooked bacon strips to the liquor and let them steep for a few weeks. After that, you're good to go. For the lazy vodka and bacon lover, there is an actual brand of vodka out there called 'Bakon' that is already bacon flavored, and it is available upon special request. As for bourbon, you'll have to make your own, but the final result is worth it. Try experimenting with your new concoction, using it with different flavors from tomato to chocolate. Who knows, you might stumble upon something amazing. Cheers.
